Our Goals

Tier I Goals

Goal 1:  The gap between ELL and non-ELL students on select measures (CMT/CAPT Reading and Math, Suspensions days), will be decreased by at least 30% points (an average of 10% point per year) while continuously improving the performance of non-ELL students.

Goal 2:  The gap between Hispanic students and non-Hispanic students on select measures (CMT/CAPT Reading and Math, Suspensions days), will be decreased by at least 30% points (an average of 10% point per year) while continuously improving the performance of non-Hispanic students.

Goal 3:  The gap between free or reduced lunch and students who are not eligible for free or reduced lunch on select measures (CMT/CAPT Reading and Math, Suspensions days), will be decreased by at least 30% points (an average of 10% point per year) while continuously improving the performance of non-eligible free or reduced lunch students.

Tier II Goals

Goal 1:  WPS will only hire and retain superior teachers

OBJECTIVE #1:  Examine hiring and retention procedures
OBJECTIVE #2:  Enhance current teachers’ skill in instruction and assessment
OBJECTIVE #3:  Enhance current leaders’ skill
OBJECTIVE #4:  Effective use of contractual time

Goal 2:  WPS will insure a continuum of behavioral support systems to maintain a safe and orderly environment for all students and staff.

OBJECTIVE #1:  Reduce the number of suspension days by at least 30% points
                          (an average of 10% point per year) 

Goal 3:  WPS will provide means for parent and student engagement beyond the school day.

OBJECTIVE #1:  Promote active partnership and engagement with parents and
                          the community.
OBJECTIVE #2:  Provide before and after school programs, as well as summer
                          school opportunities for students.
